This book is divided into seventeen lectures. The first three lectures explain the necessity and importance of classification, the inevitability of word class research, and the complexity of word class research; the fourth to fifteenth lectures first introduce and comment on the two major discussions on the Chinese word class issue, and then divide into eleven lectures to sort out the word class views of scholars such as Li Jinxi, Chen Wangdao, Zhao Yuanren, Wang Li, Lu Shuxiang, Gao Mingkai, Zhu Dexi, Hu Yushu, Zhang Bin, Guo Rui, Yuan Yulin, and Shen Jiaxuan, and explain the author's own understanding and knowledge; the sixteenth lecture gives a general introduction to the views of many scholars in the academic community on the word class issue; the seventeenth lecture discusses the issue of the polysemous nature of words.
