This book was born out of a lecture given by the author in the course "American Legal History" at Yale Law School. It traces the legal history of infectious diseases and shows how infectious diseases shape the law and how they are shaped by the law. The author focuses on the legal dimensions of U.S. anti-epidemic policies, especially the tension between health law and the federal system. He uses a high-level approach to present the U.S. laws in response to the plague. At the same time, he does not forget to describe the social picture that includes all living beings, and analyzes the "American epidemic". The reflections on "disease" are all there.
