"The Girl Who Survived" is a self-narration of an Iraqi Yazidi girl, telling about her extraordinary experience of escaping the torture of "ISIS" and becoming a human rights activist. Nadia Murad was born in Kojo, a small village of farmers and shepherds in northern Iraq. She is a member of the Yazidi community and she and her brothers and sisters lived a quiet life. Nadia dreamed of becoming a history teacher or opening her own beauty salon. On August 15, 2014, when Nadia was 21 years old, it all ended. Members of the "ISIS" terrorist organization massacred civilians in their village, executing men who refused to change their religious beliefs and women who were too old to become sex slaves. Six of Nadia's brothers were killed. Nadia was taken to Morocco by ISIS.
