This book is a monograph on China written by Professor Wolfram Elsner, a famous German economist. It is a high-quality work that objectively evaluates China's development achievements in recent years by the international community. Relying on a large amount of data and cases, the author objectively introduces various aspects of China's politics, economy, and social life, and concludes that China is taking a path that no major country has ever taken before, and we should abandon prejudice and look at China's development positively. Although this is a book written for Western readers, it is equally important for us to understand China from a Western perspective. The translation was reviewed by Zhang Yitian, deputy director of the Theoretical Department of People's Daily, and Zhang Yanlong, an expert from the Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, who made suggestions for revisions.
