This book is a biography of Wang Anshi written by Liang Qichao. Liang Qichao was impressed by the decline of modern China and believed that only by advocating the rule of law could the country be revived and the army be strengthened. Therefore, he selected famous reformers in history to write about their lives and reform achievements. This book systematically discusses the political situation in Wang Anshi's era, the trajectory of his ideological growth, his activities before and after taking office, the content and success of the new law, academic and literary, family and friendship, etc. The author, with a keen scholar's vision and rigorous historian's writing style, cited more than a hundred historical works, and used modern European and American politics as a reference to thoroughly analyze the success and failure of Wang Anshi's new law; and made 19 "examinations" to try to restore the true face of Wang Anshi in the dust of history.
