In 1958, Ressard Kapušićski became the first and only foreign correspondent from socialist Poland to arrive in Ghana—the forefront of the African liberation movement. For the next three decades, he roamed this continent, which was “too vast to describe,” traveling to dozens of countries and regions, doing everything in his power to be present in those obscured locations—whether at the scene of bloodshed, military coups, or villages struggling for survival in the jungle—sending back firsthand reports from the front lines, attempting to present the world with a true picture of Africa.
