"Deep Mountains" is a novel that Lv Xin has not written for eight years. The book has 39 chapters and about 330,000 words. Each chapter is composed of narrative text, villagers' voice-overs, and educated youth notes. Through the perspectives of several teenagers such as Haozi, Wudeng, and Du Lin, and following their respective family lines, it writes about the group portraits of life hidden deep in the ravines of the Taihang Mountains in northern Shanxi, following the pulse of the fate of life and death, and deeply thinking about the local scabs, new images of the times, and the new vitality that is eager to break out of the mountains on this ancient land.
