Lu Zuofu (1893-1952) was a famous patriotic industrialist, educator, social activist, and social reformer in modern times. He was the founder of Minsheng Company and a pioneer of China's shipping industry. He was honored as the "Chinese Shipping King" and the "Father of Beibei". Lu Zuofu's life spanned the three major fields of "saving the country through revolution", "saving the country through education", and "saving the country through industry", and he achieved success in each of these three fields. When he was young, he proposed to save the country through education and fought for it. After becoming self-taught, he founded schools, libraries, and museums to popularize culture and education. He used Beibei as a base to engage in theoretical exploration and social practice of rural construction; he founded Minsheng Company, gradually unified Sichuan-Yangtze River shipping, and forced foreign shipping forces to withdraw from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River; during the Anti-Japanese War, he was stationed in Yichang, organized and led the Yichang Great Retreat, and preserved the lifeline of China's national industry. This book uses the "Soul Broken at the End of the World" to describe the life of China's national industry.
