This book is a collection of lecture notes compiled by Qian Yishi when he taught at National Jinan University and Shanghai Law and Politics College. This book introduces China's diplomatic situation from before the Opium War to after the "September 18th Incident" in chronological order in eight chapters. The content of this book integrates the theories of history, political science, diplomacy and other disciplines, and has made useful explorations in the professional research of China's diplomatic history. In terms of the use of materials, it not only uses traditional documentary materials, but also pays attention to archaeological and physical materials. In terms of research style, it discusses from several angles such as diplomatic pattern, diplomatic thought, diplomatic system and diplomatic policy, and conducts a comprehensive analysis of China's modern diplomacy.
