This book tells the story of Hong Fu, who lived in the Stone Garden in Luoyang when she was seventeen. She always remembered the scenes she saw on the streets of Luoyang - the mud rolling under the wheels, the lead-gray puddles, and the people rushing to and fro. These scenes were separated from the Stone Garden where she lived by only a wall. If she did not walk out of this wall, she would never know such scenes, and would think that the whole world was a Stone Garden, and she would spend her whole life in the Stone Garden. Such a life was not suitable for Hong Fu.
