After being fired by the newspaper, female reporter Duomi left Beijing to find a job in other places and lived with her girlfriend Nanhong. Nanhong kept telling Duomi about her tortuous experience in Shenzhen, and Duomi kept recalling her fragmented life and career while listening. Duomi failed to find a job in Shenzhen and returned to Beijing.
