This book is a novel by Ma Mingqian. Li Shangyin's poems have always been known for their splendor and obscurity, and the people and events behind the works are looming. When this work was being created, a variety of research results and modern psychological interpretation methods were used to deeply interpret and connect Yishan's poems. The structure of the book includes seven chapters similar to short stories plus an appendix. Starting from the protagonist's psychological level and social activities, it focuses on the poet Li Shangyin's youth learning Taoism, youth taking the imperial examination, and struggles in the officialdom in his middle and late years, as well as love, family affection, and friendship in three stages, and it has unprecedentedly approached the poet's inner world. There is also an interweaving of time, space, and narrative plots between the chapters, and there are several repetitions. The appendix is the memories of Li Shangyin's friends and Linghu Shu, which are multi-faceted profiles around the protagonist, thus completing a three-dimensional picture.
