This book tells the story of how Chinese free climbers have used climbing to write their own destinies over the past twenty years, and how they have crossed the line between life and death on the mountain. Free climbers are a unique group of people in China. There are only a few hundred of them, but they are the sports group with the highest mortality rate in China. The average age of the victims is only 31 years old. The author of this book interviewed a large number of people, dug up a lot of fragmented information, stood at the crossroads of life of every young destiny, recorded the true story of Chinese free climbers, and through their life trajectories, looked through the era they lived in, and wrote an unknown mountaineering epic. This is not just a group portrait of a group of climbers, but also a story of idealists of different times pursuing freedom and self on the edge of the cliff of death. They are telling the world with their own actions that they are willing to use the risk and cost of death in exchange for a free will that can transcend everything.
