This book is a collection of three novellas by Chen Si'an, all revolving around the theme of "gender performance." "Walking Through" is the first in the collection, exploring actors' portrayals of characters of the same or opposite gender on stage, and their performative understanding of their own (gender) identity in daily life. The second, "Gejies," follows Gejies, a man who sings in drag at night in a bar and works as a cook during the day, from a photographer's perspective, depicting his double life. The third, "On Mount Chongwu, Where Birds Live," tells the story of the complex family relationships across three generations of the protagonist Li Chongwu's family, like a family drama. The protagonist's broken and tense family relationships are reflected in his girlfriend's happy family, connecting the past and present.
