Imperial President/帝王总统

This book is part of the 2024 National Publishing Fund-funded "Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Historiographical Classics" project. In it, the author deeply examines the evolution of the American presidential system over the past two hundred years, outlining the policies of presidents from Founding Father George Washington to Richard Nixon. Using detailed historical facts and a critical academic perspective, Schlesinger analyzes two major concerns regarding the American presidency: first, that the presidency has spiraled out of control, deviating from its original purpose; and second, that the president's powers have exceeded the constitutional boundaries, creating a major challenge in terms of checks and balances.
