This book is a literary essay in the form of a long narrative, recording the author's experience of returning to Chaoshan, her hometown, with Tan Sheng (then her boyfriend) and Tan Sheng's parents during the last Spring Festival of the last century, and her experience of getting along with Tan Sheng's entire family. It was the author's first time to Chaoshan. At first, she felt strange and uncomfortable, but she was soon drawn into the local customs and practices of Chaoshan, as if she had opened the door to a new world.
