This book is a novel by Gansu writer and Lu Xun Literature Award winner Ye Zhou, who was nominated for the 10th Mao Dun Literature Award in 2019. It is also the first novel that Ye Zhou has devoted ten years to writing. The novel is based on the rise and fall of the three major families living in Dunhuang Shazhou City, and describes a series of ups and downs and thrilling historical events with the Hexi Corridor, especially the Buddhist holy land Mogao Grottoes, the secular Shazhou City and the 23 Lanes outside the city as the background.
