This book tells the story of Xiaoxia, a young man from the Heluo tribe whose parents have both died and who is now fostered by his third aunt. Out of longing for his parents, Xiaoxia carves a silkworm from a wild boar tusk. Brave and resourceful, Xiaoxia, with the help of his friends, resolves a tribal crisis. During his adventures, he meets Akun, a young man from the western tribe, and Yiluo, a young man from the southern tribe. Ultimately, Akun journeys westward, carrying the silkworm carving Xiaoxia gave him, while Yiluo journeys southward, carrying the silk woven by Xiaoxia's mother, bringing the silk culture of the Central Plains to the world.
