This book was written to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Qian Mu's birth. It is divided into two parts with a total of 18 chapters. The first part describes Qian Mu's experience in running schools in Hong Kong, including the process of Qian Mu's founding of New Asia College in Hong Kong in 1949, the establishment of New Asia Research Institute in 1953, and the joining of New Asia College, Chung Chi College and United College before and after the establishment of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1963. The second part introduces the academic resumes and life stories of early New Asia teachers and students when Qian Mu was in charge of New Asia College. This book mainly introduces the life, efforts and contributions of Qian Mu and early New Asia people from the perspective of humanities, education and the development of new historiography, in order to commemorate Qian Mu's important significance to the development of humanities and academic studies in Hong Kong.

本书为纪念钱穆诞辰125周年而作, 分为上下两篇共18章, 上编阐述钱穆在香港办学的历程, 包括钱穆1949年来港创办新亚书院的经过、1953年成立新亚研究所, 以及1963年香港中文大学创立前后, 新亚书院与崇基学院、联合书院加入的情形。下编则介绍钱穆执掌新亚书院时, 早期新亚师生们的学术履历与生平事迹。本书主要从人文、教育、新史学的发展为切入角度, 介绍钱穆及早期新亚人的生平、付出与贡献, 以此纪念钱穆对于香港人文学术发展的重要意义。
