This project is a collection of humanistic photographs, focusing on sorting out and showcasing old photographs of the Grand Canal and exploring the stories behind them. Based on the collection and excavation of historical images of the Grand Canal, it traces the cultural context of these images, using vivid historical images to evoke memories of the ancient canal and promote the inheritance and development of Grand Canal culture. Organized chronologically, the project selects approximately 290 images created by Chinese and foreign photographers between 1859 and 1949, showcasing the natural scenery, cultural customs, social life, and major historical events along the banks of the Grand Canal at that time. This is the first relatively systematic and comprehensive collection, sorting, and publication of early photographic materials of the Chinese Grand Canal in China, possessing high artistic and historical value.
