This book collects a series of funny detective novels that "parody" Sherlock Holmes to China written by Bao Tianxiao, Chen Jinghan, Liu Bannong and others during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. The editor divides the novels into "Shanghai Chapter", "Beijing Chapter" and "Bashu Chapter" according to themes. 》and five other series. On the one hand, it shows the vividness and complexity of the reception field when detective novels first spread into China. On the other hand, it also constitutes the initial starting point for the later development of Chinese comic detective novels. Most of the works included in the book have not been compiled and published after the founding of New China, and have high historical and cultural value.
