This book tells the story of a little boy named Eric who doesn't like to talk. Other children call him "Mute Eric" and adults think he is just shy. In fact, Eric just doesn't like to talk because his secret friend Ye Ximi will speak for him. Eric shuts himself and his imaginary friend Ye Ximi into his own world until he meets Marcia, a little girl who likes to fly kites, and becomes friends with her.
