This book tells the life story of people born in the 1960s over the past 30 years. It starts from the millennium. Several characters come from the Yellow River Basin, the Yangtze River Basin and the Huai River Basin, and one person lives by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. These rivers eventually flow into the sea, so this scene is called "The Return of All Rivers".
