This book is named after a famous Han opera excerpt of the same name - Cong means life; Tai refers to the stage; Bie is the ultimate destination of life and the stage. This novel takes the Wuhan Han Opera Theater located on Qianjin 4th Road in Hankou as the spatial origin of the narrative - a special place that once concentrated the glorious history of the city of Wuhan in terms of politics, economy, commerce, education, culture and other aspects. It then uses the changes in Qianjin 4th Road as the background of the times, and the ups and downs of several generations of Han opera actors and the people around them as the main line to write the historical evolution of Wuhan as a theater terminal. The protagonists of the story are three young women, namely the famous Han opera actor Tai Yu, the famous reporter Jiang Miao and the female college student Cheng Mili. By narrating their growth trajectories and family stories, the work reproduces Wuhan's half-century history.
