This book uses the judicial archives of local courts stored in the Beijing Archives to restore the life sufferings experienced by women at the bottom of society. Each case is a real and vivid individual, whose experiences are completely different from those of the elite women of the same era and the men they rely on. Through each archive, this book explores the living environment, life experiences and methods of self-salvation of these women at the bottom of society, showing another side of the female group in modern society.
