Grandma Yasuda Yoshikage is old and frail, and has developed symptoms of cognitive impairment. Even getting out of bed to go to the toilet in the morning is difficult for her, yet she insists on living in her own house. Her life is divided into three types of days: days with home care, days at a daycare center, and days when her deceased son's wife comes to visit. She drifts in and out of consciousness, her thoughts swirling in a blur between reality and memory. As she gradually loses her ability to care for herself and approaches the end of her life, her thoughts leap and trace back, unraveling the past to discover the traces of happiness and despair, abandonment and protection in her lifeless existence… In her story, the sewing machine is about survival, and the goldfish symbolize love; the sewing machine gave her dignity and freedom, while the goldfish gave her the will to live.
