This book, through the intertwined relationships of four families, chronicles the changes in various aspects of Hangzhou's social life since the 1980s. The novel attempts to portray the beauty of humanity, the beauty of Hangzhou, and the beauty of Kunqu Opera (tradition). It depicts many unique scenic spots and cultural traditions of Hangzhou, embedding shared memories accumulated amidst the changing times. The characters in the novel are almost all imbued with love and kindness, yet life still brings them regret and remorse, but also an undiminished hope. The novel attempts to create an intertextual relationship with the traditional opera "Leifeng Pagoda," representing a creative transformation and integration of traditional culture.
