The *Contemporary French* textbook series is based on the *Common European Framework of Reference for Languages* (CEFR) and the *Teaching Syllabus for the Basic Stage of French Majors in Higher Education Institutions*, establishing its own syllabus. Accordingly, the texts in the previous edition have been re-selected, replaced, and revised; vocabulary has been strictly graded by level; and grammar and language skills have been reorganized and arranged to help learners build a systematic framework of French language knowledge and skills. *Contemporary French—Listening and Conversation A1* is the A1 level volume of the *Contemporary French* series' *Listening and Conversation* section. The textbook contains 4 units, totaling 16 lessons. Lessons 1-4 each consist of three parts: phonétique (phonetic component), compréhension orale (phonetic component), and production orale (phonetic component).
