This book integrates the humanistic tradition of rhetoric and the stylistic tradition of rhetoric. Rhetorical criticism and the application of rhetoric in practice are the core goals of this textbook. The core questions of the entire textbook are: What does English rhetoric involve? What is the main connotation of Western classical rhetoric? What is the significance of classical rhetoric for the study, understanding and practice of contemporary rhetoric? What are the common rhetorical figures in English, and how can these rhetorical figures be properly used in writing practice? What is the relationship between English rhetoric and Chinese rhetoric learning? In response to these questions, the textbook will be divided into ten units. The first unit introduces the basic content of classical rhetoric, focusing on Aristotle's three pillars of persuasive rhetoric - logic, morality and emotion. Units 2 to 10 introduce content related to stylistic rhetoric. Each unit contains five major models.
