This book recounts the rise, development, prosperity, and decline of a national enterprise engaged in the silk clothing business during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period. In 1897, Chen Hanwen inherited the family business and went to Beijing to establish "Haitangfang". During the War of Resistance against Japan, the national industry was severely damaged under the oppression of the Japanese invaders. Chen Hanwen fell seriously ill and died. Chen Jingyu and his wife returned from abroad and, with the help of the Communist Party, preserved their family business.
