This book uses state role theory to analyze the evolution of Turkey's policy toward the United States after the Cold War. It argues that the change in Turkish policymakers' perception of state role is the main reason for the evolution of Turkey's policy toward the United States, while the policymakers' ideology, domestic political power structure, systemic constraints, and expectations of the role of key others are the main sources of their perception of state role.
