This book is a collection of short stories by young writer Cha Xinyu, exploring themes of motherhood and family, death and life, time and memory. After her mother's sudden death from a serious illness, the author undertook a spiritual reconstruction through literature and writing. Using the flora and fauna of her hometown, Suzhou, and the traditional storytelling and embroidery as her subject matter, and drawing upon her own memories of raising her daughter from infancy to end-of-life care, she wrote nine independent yet interconnected stories. Among these stories are a mother who achieves a silent reconciliation with her daughter amidst the mundane routines of perimenopause; a daughter caring for her mother suffering from Alzheimer's disease; and a housewife who runs away from home, her brief escape echoing the erratic trajectory of a spinning star in the universe.
