As a child, Chang Xiangyu's family was so poor they often went hungry. She dreamed of acting, of acquiring a skill to support herself. To learn opera, she practiced singing, acting, and martial arts day and night, persevering even when her legs were swollen. She even set a record of performing for 45 consecutive days without repeating a single act. After achieving fame, Chang Xiangyu never forgot her country and its people. During the Korean War, she led her troupe on a charity performance tour of over 170 shows, donated a fighter jet named "Xiangyu Troupe," and even performed for soldiers on the front lines at Shangganling in Korea. This poor girl from the banks of the Yellow River ignited her artistic dream with a night performance, and later became a beacon of light, illuminating the lives of many more.
