This is a historical romance novel set in a fictional world. The female protagonist is Xie Yu, the daughter of the Xie family. Due to family misfortune, she became an orphan and was forced to disguise herself as a boy during her teenage years, living under the guise of Su Jin. She studied diligently and eventually achieved the highest rank in the imperial examination, but because of her young age, she was ranked fourth, thus beginning her official career. In her search for her missing old friend Chao Qing, Su Jin offended a powerful group led by the Seventh Prince, and through this, she met Liu Chaoming, an imperial censor of the Censorate, Zhu Nanxian, the Thirteenth Prince, and Shen Xi, the Vice Minister of Revenue. Through a series of cases, including bringing down Zeng Ping, the Vice Minister of Personnel who abused his power, and impeaching Sun Yinde, a corrupt official of the Ministry of Works, Su Jin not only rescued Chao Qing but also established her ambition to "distinguish right from wrong and remain steadfast in her principles," ultimately becoming a respected imperial censor.
