This book is the 2021 Goncourt Prize-winning novel. In 2018, in Paris, France, a young Senegalese writer, Fayet, discovered the novel *The Labyrinth of the Inhuman* by his compatriot, T.T. Elliman. Published in 1938, the book caused a sensation, but was recalled by its publisher due to a plagiarism scandal, while the author remained silent and never appeared. As if summoned by an unknown force, Fayet began his pursuit of the enigmatic Elliman. France, the Netherlands, Argentina, Senegal… Elliman's life intersected with that of numerous editors, authors, and critics, only to vanish just as easily. He was omnipresent, yet elusive.
