This book provides a long-term analysis of the rise and fall of Middle Eastern countries from the perspective of the changing world system. The book is mainly divided into three parts. The first part analyzes the three major revolutions in the world system (geopolitical revolution, industrial revolution, and ideological revolution) and their impact on the Middle East. The second part mainly reviews and analyzes the main coping strategies of Middle Eastern countries in the face of the shaping and impact of the world system and their ultimate effects. The third part focuses on the dramatic changes in the Middle East in 2011 and the development dilemmas faced by Middle Eastern countries after these changes.
